Getting Support: Middle and High School
One of the single largest factors for a person considering suicide is LACK OF A CONNECTION to other people – particularly to peers who may be experiencing similar issues and challenges.
Don’t be ashamed or embarrassed to ask or look for help. Everyone has problems they can not solve on their own. Talking to peers can be the first step toward solving your problems and making positive decisions.
Learn to cope. Learn to be connected. There are peer leadership programs within your school and community that are available to help.
- Your neighborhood Boys & Girls Club
- Your neighborhood YMCA
- Faith based youth groups
- Local community centers or recreation programs – find one in your city or town.
- Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)
